Thoughts about me

Hello, My name is Merry Sunshine. In this time of new normal and change, I have decided to take a step forward and help others with the knowledge I have accumulated over the years. I only hold down-to-earth pearls of wisdom but no degrees. However, I did graduate from the school of a hard knock with honors. (P.S. If you don’t know what that means, I would recommend watching Annie. I am partial to the 1942 version with Shirley Temple, but if you want to listen to just the song, then any of them will do. No, I am old, but not that old.) I like to find humor in life, but sometimes it turns out ironic. Especially in the morning, when I am having my first cup of coffee and contemplating life in general.

I only have a few rules. I know rules are the worst! But think of it like this, it is only a couple, and they are not too outrageous. The first rule is to be respectful. It is simple, right. Please feel free to agree, disagree, or have no opinion. Your opinions matter, but I strongly dislike drama. The second rule is no politics and religion. My grandfather once said for a happy life not to discuss these things with people you can about. This place is about community and learning. Now you have a technical question, such as how to register to vote, I will be happy to help.

My daughter and I live in the sunshine state in a small two-bedroom rental. I love my rental, but it takes some imagination to organize the thing. I cook daily and enjoy doing it. For most of my life, I have worked with a budget. I hope to help people, young, old, and in-between, to love and care for themselves. The world is a scary place, but we are all in it together. I am here to help you go on an adventure so that the world does not feel so big. I find making things myself is a great joy and less expensive. For example, baking soda is very versatile. It can be used in baking or cleaning.

My grandfather made a huge impact on my life as a child. He was an old country doctor who lived during the depression and was a gentlemen farmer. When I was growing up, he often said that the only dumb question was one you don’t ask. I taught my children that as well. Though to be fair, I did have to limit my oldest the number of questions a day, or she would forget what I told her. That said, I encourage questions and the exchange of ideas. Knowledge is power. Every day, I hope I learn something new, whether it is big or small. Please help me on my quest.

Because of the headaches of my past, I have learned that you have to love yourself first. Finding the thing that makes you happy is important, especially if you live life in the fast lane. For me, that is taking time for myself and serving others. When I help another, I am doing a service for myself. I have always known that serving others was my calling. I love seeing the smile on people’s faces. It is truly is one of my greatest joys. My hope for this blog is that people laugh and gain some knowledge with a dash of inspiration. I have a few sections above on a menagerie of things. Please browse, and find something that interests you, comment, and share.
